A neighborhood watch, also known as positive loitering, is an effective tool against loitering and drug sales. Beat 2024 has a number of watches organized by the 20th District and the local block clubs.
There are currently two Neighborhood Watches in effect in Beat 2024:
1.) The Gunnison – Catalpa – Margate Watch that covers Sheridan Road from Gunnison to Margate avenues. Contact the president of Castelwood Terrace Association, Ed Kuske (eakuske1@comcast.net), for more information.
2.) The Winona Watch currently covers Winona Avenue on Winthrop near Goudy School and also Kenmore Ave. Contact the 48th Ward Service Office at 773-784-5277 for more information.
